1. Litigation

Robin and Randy’s trial experience began even before they graduated from Temple University School of Law when they each successfully tried and/or arbitrated cases to conclusion through Temple’s clinical program. Following law school, both Robin and Randy began working for the Travelers Insurance Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where they defended Travelers insureds in products liability and worker’s compensation matters. Since moving to Texas in 1994, Robin and Randy have worked in a number of trial-oriented practices with other firms where they tried a variety of complex commercial litigation cases in both federal and state courts and arbitrated matters before the NASD, FINRA, AAA and JAMS. In addition, both Randy and Robin have handled a variety of state and federal administrative agency matters.

Since teaming together, Robin and Randy have successfully defended a pair of financial advisors in a FINRA arbitration and a court-ordered private arbitration wherein the financial advisors were accused of misappropriating trade secrets and violating non-competition and non-solicitation agreements.

2. Employment

Robin often provides employment-related advice to management level employees, as well as risk prevention services to a number of small businesses in diverse fields such as the energy, automotive, medical and securities fields. Robin is Board Certified in Labor & Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and advises small businesses and management-level employees on matters such as:

  • Wage & hour issues (overtime pay and minimum wages issues).
  • Discrimination, ADA and FMLA matters or claims.
  • Whistleblower or Sarbanes-Oxley Act issues.
  • Misappropriation of trade secrets and other intellectual property issues.
  • Non-competition, non-solicitation, confidentiality and separation issues.
  • Employment issues regarding FINRA regulated entities or advisors.

3. Energy, Environmental & Securities

Randy (who is a former drilling fluids engineer) also is currently the general counsel for a small environmental start-up company that provides services to the shale gas drilling and oil & gas industry. When combined with his experience handling securities-related litigation and enforcement actions for FINRA regulated businesses, Randy’s “hand’s-on” experience allows him to quickly identify regulatory-related issues that can be detrimental to a company’s success.
